There were many anti-Trump protesters on 8th Avenue in front of the Moynihan Train Hall across the street from thousands of Trump supporters who lined up to enter the arena. There was a strong police presence and the area was rowdy and boisterous but remained non-violent.

A candlelight vigil was held in Central Park at Columbus Circle for the six hostages who were found murdered in Gaza. 2000 people gathered filled with grief and anger over the deaths and the inability of the Netanyahu government and Hamas to come to an agreement to free the remaining hostages and have a ceasefire in the Israeli/Hamas War. The speakers stressed that this gathering was not political but a humanitarian vigil to seal the deal and bring the remaining hostages home.

Demonstrators march down Michigan Avenue in front of the Art Institute of Chicago on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. This demonstration centered around several groups protesting for Women's rights, Abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and Palestinian rights.

The demonstration was in response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking to Congress and meeting President Biden and Presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
There was a rally with many speakers and they were critical of both Netanyahu and the Biden/Harris administration. The protesters then started marching and ended the demonstration on the grounds of Union Station. There were other pockets of protesters at various locations around the city and as the day went on the tensions became higher with some police use of pepper spray and the demonstrators using smoke bombs and burning effigies of Netanyahu and Biden.

The protesters represented various causes including climate change, LGBTQ+ rights, Immigrant rights, Palestinian rights, Women's rights, and a general condemnation of the Republican agenda and a fear of a second Trump presidency. There were some counter protesters mostly anti-abortion activists.
