






















The church’s original building was destroyed in the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921. It was rebuilt in 1928 at the same location in the Greenwood section of Tulsa.


On September 4, 1957, Governor Orval Faubus called in the Arkansas National Guard to block the entrance of black students into the High School. Later that month, President Eisenhower sent federal troops to escort the Littler Rock Nine into the school.


Martin Luther King was assassinated here on April 4, 1968. The Motel is now a Civil Rights Museum.










JFK was assassinated here on November 22, 1963.






















This was the site of Bloody Sunday when Civil Rights protesters were attacked by armed police with billy clubs and tear gas on March 7, 1965.
On March 21 the protesters started again and completed their march to the Capitol in Montgomery.
Edmund Pettus was a former Confederate General, a U.S.Senator, and Grand Dragon of the Alabama Ku Klux Klan.

The Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War with approximately 50,000 deaths.
