
I lived in Austin, Texas for a year from the middle of 2014 to the middle of 2015. I walked the streets as I had in New York and photographed whatever I found interesting. By this time I had been using the iPhone mostly as my main camera working in a square format. There were less people on the street than in New York, so I would ask for permission to take photos more often. Austin is a special place with a very diverse population and has its own atmosphere. This is my own personal photographic impression of Austin over the year that I was there.













On August 1, 1966, Charles Whitman went to the observation deck of the tower with various weapons including a high-powered rifle and killed 16 people and wounded 3 dozen others. One of the first mass shootings that still continue today in America.

The Victory Grill is a historic music venue and hosted many African-American musicians when Austin was legally segregated. Bobby "Blue" Bland, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, B.B. King, Ike and Tina Turner, James Brown, Billie Holiday, Etta James, and Chuck Berry all graced the stage of the Victory Grill.
